Program Overview
The Early Childhood Education Certificate provides the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills needed to work with young children and families in a variety of educational settings. Emphasizing play-based learning, students explore development, communication, and inclusive practices.
Practicum experiences integrate theory with real-world practice. Students study topics such as lifespan development, curriculum design, behavior guidance, health and safety, ethics, observation, and communication.
Admission Requirements:
• High school graduation or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum age: 18 years.
• English proficiency: IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.

English Version:
1–3 days after registration: If the student has not received login
credentials, 100% refund. If logged in or received credentials,
80% refund.
3–7 days after registration: 50% refund.
After 7 days: No refund.
Application fees are non-refundable.

Early Childhood Education (ECE)
The Early Childhood Education Certificate equips students with essential skills and knowledge necessary for working effectively with young children and their families across various environments. Our program emphasizes a play-based approach, focusing on strengths and positive asset perspectives.
Practicums form a crucial part of the curriculum, offering students opportunities to integrate theory with practical experience in early childhood settings. Key areas of study encompass lifespan development; establishing relationships with children and families; curriculum development; behavior guidance; health, safety, and nutrition practices; theoretical frameworks, ethics, and philosophies; interpersonal and professional communication; observation and documentation techniques; as well as inclusive and diverse educational practices.
Upon completion, graduates are well-prepared for careers in childcare professions within group care and educational settings catering to children from birth to age 12. Potential employment opportunities include preschools, family childcare, BC Strong Start programs, infant development programs, supported child development initiatives, Child Care Resource and Referral services, Head Start programs, Community Action Program for Children, as well as roles in literacy, behavior, and early intervention programs.
Students also learn about the physical and mental well-being of children and the absence of disease.
Students will learn about the regulations and practices that protect the health and safety of young children in our community.
Students will explore how best to work in partnership with parents to protect the health and safety of their children.
The course covers the ECEA required competencies.
Admission Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent (i.e. GED).
- 18 years of age Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through with prior education in English at grade 10 level or higher or through an English language assessment (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent).
Refund policy:
Before program start date, institution receives a notice of withdrawal:
No later than seven days after student signed the enrolment contract, and
Before the program start date
100% tuition and all related fees, other than application fee.
Student has completed no more than 30% of the program.
Institution may retain up to 30% of the tuition paid.
• Student has completed more than 30% but less than 50% of the program.
Institution may retain up to 50% of the tuition paid.
• Student has completed 50% or more of the program.
No refund due.
