Learning Outcomes

At the end of his program, students will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamental roles and responsibilities of Caregiver Support Workers.
  • Describe the functions of relevant  health care systems
  • Explain common client conditions and support needs.
  • Describe various legal/ ethical issues that a support workers/ caregivers must consider when working with  clients and organizations. 
  • Describe the importance of the client’s strengths needs, rights, preferences, and expectations, and their willingness and ability to participate in their care.
  • Explain the principles of ethical person-centred care related to assisting with activities of daily living skills
  • Outline common issues and challenges in the workplace for caregivers.
